On Wednesday, the exhibition "The Returned Work of Ada" by the expatriate artist Ada Peldavičiūtė-Montvydienė was presented. It presented a collection of the artist's works donated to Lithuania by the Lithuanian Foundation and handed over to the Lithuanian Art Museum: 26 works. The artist and her husband left Lithuania for America. The curator of the exhibition says that circumstances forced her to do so.

"Like a large number of Lithuanian artists, when the wave of war approached Lithuania and it was necessary to choose either Siberia or life, she left Lithuania," said the curator of the exhibition Rima Rutkauskienė.

The artist was most fond of the portrait genre. Her work has features of impressionism and art deco styles. Later, her work was greatly influenced by the American cultural environment. The artist seemed to concentrate on philosophical themes, liked semi-abstract and abstract compositions.

"She was no longer involved in activities in America. She created portraits. She worked as a restorer, then worked in an antique shop, but no longer participated in exhibitions. He no longer belonged to the Lithuanian Artists' Union," continued R. Rutkauskienė.

This exhibition is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Lithuanian Foundation. The foundation was founded in 1962 in the United States of America (USA). Its main goal was to maintain and support Lithuanian culture, education, and Lithuanian cultural centers located across the Atlantic. The chairman of the foundation says that their goals have not changed since the beginning of the pre-election.

"We want to continue growing, we have been around for 51 years and our goals have not changed. We want to continue to support. We have 36 Lithuanian schools. We organize cultural events, events for young people, camps," said Marius Kasniūnas, Chairman of the Council of the Lithuanian Foundation.

<... > However, this is the third art collection donated to the Lithuanian Foundation Museum. Previously, the creative legacy of Pranas Domšaitis of exceptional value and the collection of drawings of the Lithuanian province by Mstislav Dobužinskis were donated.
