Our Lady of Częstochowa is an iconographic image of Our Lady of Częstochowa. The painting of The Blessed Virgin Mary and the Infant Jesus in the church of the monastery in Częstochowa (Poland) is also known as The Black Madonna of Częstochowa, Mother of Poland and Queen of Poland, and since the seventeenth century has been considered the symbol of suffering and strength of Poland. According to art historians, the Byzantine icon of The Mother of God Guiding Star dates back to the sixth–ninth century. According to legends, it is based on St Luke’s painting of Mary.
