Franciszek Smuglewicz, the famous Lithuanian Classical painter, spent 20 years in Rome, and more than ten years in Warsaw. When he came to Lithuania, he brought with him the fashion for the Antique and Classical styles, established a local school of art, introduced the principles of secular European art, and significantly expanded the range of themes.
